A man fell into great hardship, his spirit waned, his gifts degenerated, he became unbearable. His wife left him, his adult children turned to their mother, and rejected him.
One night, wandering through the bars and looking for a drink or to chat with one of his old acquaintances, he came across a fortune teller's tent.
Feeling as if he had nothing to lose, he decided to surrender to her gaze. She looked at his right palm for a long time, and then asked for his left. "The right palm reflects the storm, it is the palm of your life now. The left palm reflects the happiness you were born with. It is exceptional for you, it promises a lot."
Realizing that she had told him that he had betrayed his own destiny, the man said in disappointment: "I have ruined everything."
"You haven’t," the fortune teller replied: "Only your right palm is ruined, and it is ruined only at this moment. Your left remains intact forever."
